MEET THE INSTRUCTOR
My name is Lori Roth. I am a born and bred Pittsburgher,
currently living in the south hills with my husband, Stuart and our two
children, Alex, age 9 and Dean, age 6. I began my professional life as an
attorney, advising corporate franchise departments. My most recent position was
with a major vitamin retailer. After my daughter Alex turned two, I decided to
leave my corporate job so that I could spend full time with her. It was then
that I began experimenting with different and unique teaching techniques. Alex
was interested in books and I thought perhaps there was a way I could further
stimulate her interest in reading, or even teach her some early reading skills.
This trial and error quest, along with my frustration with the lack of useful
materials for younger readers, forced me to come up with my own teaching
techniques and materials, which were successful with Alex and later with Dean.
Both children read early readers by age 3 and chapter books by age 4. Alex was
always good about sitting and applying herself, so I initially chalked up her
early reading to her temperament and perhaps some precociousness. However, when
my teaching techniques worked just as well on my fidgety, headstrong little
boy-that's when I knew I was on to something! When both children were in school
full time, I began fulfilling my dream to bring my ideas and techniques to
other preschool children and their parents. I wrote 5 sets of readers, totaling
52 books for use with the program, and named the program Thinkadink™.
Thinkadink™ classes were launched in September of 2005 to rave reviews from
parents and lots of smiles and cheers from their reading children!
